On August 25, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held a national deployment and implementation meeting for the three-year IPv6 traffic increase special action to carry out the “IPv6 traffic increase three-year special action plan (2021-2023)” for the information and communication industry (hereinafter referred to as "Three Annual Action Plan) policy interpretation and publicity and deployment. Han Xia, chief engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
The meeting pointed out that the implementation of the three-year special action to increase IPv6 traffic is an important measure to implement the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, an urgent need to accelerate the construction of a new Internet development pattern, and an important support for the high-quality development of my country’s economy and society. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Central Cyberspace Administration of China jointly issued the “Three-Year Action Plan”, which is the “baton” for the information and communication industry to deepen the large-scale deployment and application of IPv6 in the next three years. It is of great significance to promote the increase of IPv6 traffic and accelerate the smooth evolution of the Internet to IPv6.
The meeting emphasized that local communications administrations, cybersecurity and informatization authorities, and industry and informatization authorities should strengthen organizational guarantees, strengthen departmental coordination, pay attention to monitoring and release, strengthen publicity and promotion, and organize relevant enterprises to focus on IPv6 proposed in the “Three-year Action Plan”. The overall goal of traffic improvement, accurately grasp the goal requirements and key tasks, and implement them item by item to ensure actual results. The first is to consolidate the foundation and continue to improve IPv6 network capabilities; the second is to achieve breakthroughs and accelerate the improvement of the IPv6 application ecosystem; the third is to clear the “blocking points” and accelerate the improvement of fixed terminal IPv6 support capabilities; the fourth is to ensure safety and coordinate the improvement of IPv6 Security capability.
